Support when getting up and moving feels difficult

Kayla, Avanti’s Sunshine Coast occupational therapist, looks at how someone gets out of bed, stands up from a chair and moves around their home. The local team talks it through with you and explains whether an OT assessment is the right next step before anything is booked.

How OT helps

What an OT looks at with getting up and moving at home

An occupational therapist looks at how someone gets out of bed, stands up from a chair and moves around their home. The team confirms whether this service fits before anything is booked.

Getting out of bed

Rolling over, sitting up, swinging legs to the floor and standing safely beside the bed.

Standing up from a chair or lounge

Sit-to-stand, using arms to push up, and whether the chair or seating setup is helping or getting in the way.

Moving between rooms

Walking, leaning on walls or furniture, using steps, and getting to the bathroom, kitchen or front door.

This is an occupational therapy assessment and recommendation pathway. It is not a personal care, cleaning or support-worker service. Recommendations follow the assessment.
